Railway diversions in Bristol

On 2004 April 10 and 11 (Easter Saturday and Sunday) the line from Narroways Hill Junction to Filton Junction was closed to allow "further preparatory work... for the laying of a third track and the building of a new platform" at Filton Abbey Wood. Trains to and from Wales, and cross-country services through Bristol were diverted via Avonmouth and Henbury, adding about 11 miles (and an hour) to journeys.
