You're standing in a churchyard when you sense something behind
You feel the icy hand of sudden panic grip your mind
You turn and see a silent figure step out of the trees
Your eyes are drawn towards him but your legs begin to freeze
The earth is all in shadow but the sun is in the sky
Something isn't right but you can't remember why
The silence grows oppressive and the air is getting cold
The figure stand impassive as the fear is taking hold
Don't fear the stranger
You're running but there's nowhere left to hide
He'll be there, acknowledge what he is
And read the message from inside
A storm builds up behind him, the clouds obscure the sun
He starts to move toward you, you turn and try to run
You hear his footsteps louder, see the sky above turn grey
You know he's getting closer but you have to get away
Don't fear the stranger
The shadow that you won't believe is true
He's the face you're pretending isn't there
He's just another part of you
This lyric was an attempt to express some ideas I had after studying and discussing mythology, psychology and dream images. (2000-04-19)
